Texans sign draftee Holliday Sports betting aficionados are aware of when they see the landscape changing on a particular team. For the NFL's Houston Texans, there's a possibility that something might have changed last week. Coach Gary Kubiak did indeed need a fast receiver and playmaker on his team, which has a solid defense but has not been able to consistently produce points over the past few seasons. The Texans have regularly missed the playoffs because they've been far too balky and unreliable with the ball. In an attempt to change this situation, Houston drafted LSU wide receiver Trindon Holliday just over a month ago. The sixth-round selection is really small at 5-5 and 165 pounds, but he's blazing fast and has a very legitimate chance of becoming the team's kick return specialist. If Holliday becomes a great returner and nothing more, he'll have given the Texans considerable value on the draft board. Saints sign linebacker Ingram to one-year deal Continuing their attempt to remain strong on defense in support of Drew Brees and a cutting-edge passing attack, the Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints signed linebacker Clint Ingram last week. The Saints took Ingram after the Jacksonville Jaguars withdrew an offer from the Oklahoma product. Ingram acknowledged that he recently had microfracture surgery in his knee, an obvious point of concern, but it must also be said that at age 27, Ingram's body might still be able to display enough resilience to prolong a playing career. This isn't a difference-making, equation-changing move, but it might provide a small yet meaningful amount of reinforcement to a New Orleans defense that can't drop off from last season. The Saints need to be just as good on that side of the ball, if not better, in 2010.
NFL betting gurus have to be wondering how much longer the quarterback shuffle will continue in Seattle. A week ago, Mike Reilly was let go as a backup quarterback who was further down the list in the Seahawks' overall depth chart. Then the team picked up former Buffalo Bills quarterback J.P. Losman to be the main backup to starter Matt Hasselbeck. Now, the Seahawks have made yet another move at the position, as they cut ties with former Rutgers quarterback and team draftee Mike Teel. The revolving door in the Pacific Northbet west hit Teel in the backside, and it's clear that coach Pete Carroll wants to evaluate a fresh set of faces at camp. Where will all of this lead? No one exactly knows at this point. |
